Recently my Foxtel service started playing up. Shock horror the Channel showing NCIS wasn't working.

I love NCIS and I was struggling to function without it - so I had no alternative but to contact Foxtel and get the issue resolved.

To date my dealings with Foxtel haven't been all that pretty but in trying to turn everything I do into a positive - I have been able to turn this whole episode into a learning experience - some good - some bad.

  1. Computer generated bots can annoy customers with recurring issues. Be careful how they are used in customer service.
  2. Follow up sms messages are good but do not use them in a sneaky way.
  3. Be careful who you allow to wear your company uniforms and have them represent you.
  4. Pleasant call centre people are great but if theu have no solutions or empowerment even pleasant people can become annoying.
  5. If you are getting the runaround it pays to reach out to social media to get some action.
  6. Research appropriate #'s and @'s to include in your post.
  7. First post on social media to announce your issue with a company should not be a rant or a flame - stay rational and erudite.
  8. keep an eye on your own social media feeds to make sure none of your clients are publicly disgruntled.
  9. Move disgruntled clients to a private space to air their grievances politley and as quickly as possible.
